Latest monthly roundup

March brings the promise of spring, longer days and a fresh start, and we hope you’re feeling energised and ready for the busy month ahead. We’re excited to share the latest updates and improvements designed to help you support your customers more efficiently.

Enhancements to Loan-to-Income limits

We’ve recently announced improvements to our residential Loan-to-Income (LTI) bands, making it easier for your customers to borrow what they need. For higher earners, borrowing limits for 75% LTV and below have increased: sole applicants earning £75k+ and joint applicants earning £100k+ can now borrow up to 6.0x income, and for those earning £40k+, it’s up to 5.5x.

These changes apply to new capital and interest mortgage applications from 28th January onwards. For example, a customer earning £75,000 a year could potentially borrow up to £37,500 more than before. Check out our updated A-Z lending criteria or get in touch if you’ve got questions.

Broker Declaration update – payroll checks

We’re always looking for ways to streamline the application process. Our broker declaration now lets you know that we might collect information from Experian, and for employed applications, we’ll now be asking for your customer’s National Insurance (NI) number. This small change helps us verify income more smoothly and means fewer requests for physical payslips.

If your customer doesn’t have an NI number, just get in touch and we’ll help you find a solution. Thanks for helping us make things simpler for everyone involved.

We’ve made connecting with us even easier: you can now reach NatWest Intermediaries on WhatsApp!
